With the deadline of the bid file closing last week, there are two countries in contention for the final bidding stage to host the 2009 World Championships. Italy sent its complete bid file on September 10th while Korea has requested a one month extension due to the sudden death of its President last month.
AIBA received the agreement from the Italy federation for granting Korea’s request and informed Korea that they can submit their bid by October 10, 2007. The remaining bidding countries, Cameroon, Trinidad and Tobago and Uzbekistan did not submit the bid files and therefore have been withdrawn.
The final decision for hosting the 2009 World Championships will be made by the AIBA Executive Committee on October 21, 2007, prior to the AIBA World Championships Chicago 2007. |
